The MTA

I went to an MTA meeting last week and then was asked to be a representative for the school since the other one left this past year.  There are two for every school.  My first instinct was to say no, but why.  I didn't have a reason.  Yeah, more meetings, more work.  But is it really that much more?  I've learned that I don't want to be in the classroom, but what do I want to do?  Do I want to do something political?  Our system is not perfect.  Everyone complains about it, but who does anything about it?  I really don't think I'll be able to do much, but it's better than nothing.  This district needs change, but how?  Can I complain about it and just sit back and do nothing?  No.  I can go to meetings.  I can figure how to change.  It may be a small change, but there's no where else to start.
