I think New Year's Eve is dumb, but I like the idea of new beginnings. In 2012, I started making resolutions that I really wanted to keep. In 2013, I sort of did. They were do a certain number of things--new books, recipes, places, hobbies, etc. In 2014, I'm going to make resolutions, but in a more general way. So....
In 2014, I want to...
1. Read more. I've been putting a number on the books I want to read in the past, but then I don't meet it and get frustrated with myself. Instead, I just want to read more. I know I need to. I watch way too much tv.
2. Be less addicted to my electronics. As I sit here, on my computer, with my phone nearby, and my TV on...suprisingly my iPad is not next to me as well. I think this will be the one that's most difficult to achieve.
3. Get a hobby. For the past two years, I've told myself that I want to (re)learn how to cross-stitch. Maybe I'll do that; maybe I'll do something else. I just want to do something.
4. Be a better friend. With distance, it's hard. I need to work on it and there's no better time than now.
